Northern Colorado volleyball to host Colorado, Colorado State in 2025 season

Home nonconference matches against Colorado and Colorado State, four in-season tournaments and eight Big Sky Conference matches at Bank of Colorado Arena highlight the University of Northern Colorado volleyball team’s 2025 schedule this fall.The Bears will also host the Big Sky Conference tournament Nov. 24-26 by winning the Big Sky regular-season title in 2024.

The start times of all matches will be announced at a later date.UNC meets Colorado State on Tuesday, Sept. 2 in the Bears’ fourth match of the season.



Colorado visits Bank of Colorado Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 28 — in the middle of UNC’s Big Sky Conference schedule.Colorado State is a member of the Mountain West Conference.

Colorado plays in the Big 12 Conference.UNC beat both schools last year on the way to a school-record 28-8 season and an appearance in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship semifinals. The Bears lost to the University of Arizona 3-1 in a NIVC semifinal Dec.

The other in-season tournaments on the schedule are: the BYU Classic on Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 4-6 in Provo, Utah; the UC Santa Barbara Classic on Friday, Sept. 12 to Saturday, Sept.

13 in Santa Barbara, California; and the Air Force Tournament on Friday, Sept. 19 to Saturday, Sept. 20 in Colorado Springs.

UNC is scheduled to play Air Force on Sept. 19 and the University of Denver on Sept. 20.

UNC begins its 16-match Big Sky Conference schedule at Weber State on Wednesday, Sept. 24. The Bears’ first home match of the conference season is Saturday, Sept.

Angert will graduate this year from Saint Joseph Academy in Cleveland.In January, 5-10 setter Nerea Álvarez Jorge joined UNC as a transfer from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.

Álvarez Jorge is originally from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. She was a two-time first team All American by the National Junior College Athletic Association and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.UNC signed attackers Shelby Schoenbeck and Leila Ballard out of high school programs last fall.

Schoenbeck is a middle blocker from Peoria, Arizona. Ballard is an outside hitter from Saugus, California..
