The aim of Connections is to group the 16 words of the day into four groups, where each group of four words has a common theme. For instance, the words "Hook", "Nana", "Peter", and "Wendy" are all Peter Pan characters.



Or to take another example, "Action", "Ballpark", "Go", and "Stick" are all words which commonly come just before the word "Figure". Your job is to figure out what these themes are that connect the various words together - but be wary, because a lot of the time there are deceptive red herring connections placed purely to throw you off! To win the game, you have to find all four Connections without making 4 mistakes. On your fourth mistake, the game is over and the answer is revealed automatically.

Each of the four groups in each day's Connections puzzle is also assigned a different colour, which represents how easy or difficult the Connection is to find. What is today's Connections answer? Here is the answer to today's Connections puzzle on Saturday, 3rd May: Yellow: Awesome (Dope, Fire, Lit, Sick) Green: Defeat Soundly (Cream, Lick, Paste, Smoke) Blue: “Will” Contractions Without The Apostrophe (Hell, Ill, Shell, Well) Purple: Url Endings Plus A Letter (Comp, Milk, Neti, Orgo) As I was putting 'fire', 'lit', 'smoke', and 'hell' together, I already suspected I might've been off to a bad start today. I probably should've looked a bit closer before handing that in, given the obviously weak 'fiery' link, but I didn't. Woops! Luckily it didn't take long to find the 'cool' category after that, but then I was left wondering what a 'neti' is.

I'm still not entirely sure, but it has something to do with cleaning your nose, Google says. Not that it matters for today's purple group, because it's all about hidden URLs - which I didn't figure out, by the way. What I did figure out, was the green group's theme.

Saved me from a proper beating today. Since I couldn't find the blue and purple themes, I thought it was worth a try to put all visually similar words together (hell, shell, ill, well) and give it a try.
