Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to rationalize and restructure the cadre of Odisha Subordinate Welfare Service (OSWS) and Odisha Welfare Service (OWS) by creating a total of 24 new posts in various ranks. The ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Class Welfare Department had given a proposal in this regard which the State Cabinet approved today.In a press release, the department said, “In order to keep pace with the changing needs and to improve the delivery mechanism for implementation of welfare activities for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities and Backward Classes, there is a need to restructure the Odisha Subordinate Welfare Service (OSWS) & Odisha Welfare Service (OWS) Cadres.

In the last few years the Union as well as the State Government have taken up number of new welfare schemes, established new ITDAS/ Micro Projects, residential schools and hostels managed by this Department to ensure maximum coverage of target population especially Tribals and PVTGs. Thus, more presence of officers of Welfare Service is being felt both at mid level as well as higher level to address the critical gap hindering effective implementation of Government initiatives for holistic development of the target audience.”“Thus, the State Government has taken the initiative to rationalize and restructure the cadre of Odisha Subordinate Welfare Service and Odisha Welfare Service by creation of 24 new posts in various ranks,” it added.
