The Iowa State Patrol has released the name of the woman who was killed after the car she was driving was struck from behind by a semi in Cedar County on Thursday.

at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Taylor Avenue.



According to the minimal crash report, a 2009 Peterbilt semi driven by Adam Wiese, 27, of Lowden, Iowa, was eastbound on U.S. 30.

The semi struck the rear of a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Loretta J. Frana, 59, of Lowden. The Malibu was in the process of turning left, or northbound, onto Taylor Avenue when it was struck.

The semi came to rest on the eastbound shoulder of the highway while the Malibu came to rest in the southeast ditch. Frana was killed in the crash. Wiese was not injured.
