OpenAI is reportedly interested in buying Google’s Chrome browser if the federal court orders it for sale in an antitrust case over Google’s alleged search monopoly.

OpenAI has expressed interest in buying Google’s Chrome browser if the court orders Alphabet to sell it as part of a remedy in the ongoing Google antitrust trial. Nick Turley, ChatGPT's head of product, during his testimony in Washington has reportedly expressed interest in buying Google’s Chrome browser. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) is currently pursuing action against Google, aiming to break up what it describes as the company’s illegal monopoly in the online search market.

The case could lead to major changes in the tech industry, including the potential sale of the Chrome browser. As per a report of The Information , Turley said that OpenAI would be interested in buying Google’s Chrome browser if the court orders the separation. As per multiple reports, Turley testified that OpenAI contacted Google in July to access to its search technology for integration in ChatGPT.



However, Google declined the proposal in August, citing concerns that it would involve too many competitors. Turley confirmed that no partnership currently exists between OpenAI and Google.
