OPP investigating discovery of human remains in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after human remains were discovered in Tyendinaga Mowhawk Territory, east of Belleville, Ont. Police say officers were called to a location near Highway 49, between Old Highway 2 and Lower Slash Road, on Saturday shortly after 3 p.m.

Police believe the remains had been there for “an extended period of time,” OPP said in a news release. OPP do not believe there is any risk to public safety. The public can expect an increased police presence in the area as an investigation continues.
