1 2 Pune: The political circle heated up in the peak of summer over arrangements for next week's special cabinet meeting to be held at warrior queen Ahilyadevi Holkar 's birthplace. The opposition targeted Mahayuti citing the Rs150-crore tender advertisement for the meeting at Chondi village in Ahilyanagar district and called it a waste of public funds. The govt clarified, it was a printing error and the actual cost of arrangements was Rs1.
5 crore. The state is planning to make some announcements on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyadevi Holkar, including setting up her memorial statue at Chondi. The state has decided to conduct a special cabinet in Chondi village, where the govt is expected to make the announcements.
The administration needs to make some makeshift arrangements to conduct the cabinet meeting at Chondi because it is a small village. Several cabinet ministers, including chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and deputy chief ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde, will be there on the occasion. The govt issued an advertisement, inviting tender for those arrangements.
One of the advertisements mentioned the cost of the work as Rs150 crore. The opposition pounced on it to target the govt. State Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal said, "The govt is facing a financial crisis and it does not have money to waive off farmers' loans.
It is reducing the number of beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin scheme. However, it is ready to waste public funds to give five-star treatment to the cabinet ministers. For one day, it is ready to spend crores of rupees.
" Replying to Sapkal, revenue minister and state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the Congress state chief's allegation was too juvenile. "The actual cost of the work is Rs1.5 crore.
One of the advertisements had a printing error, which showed it at Rs150 crore. It is too petty that he is trying to rake up a non-issue for publicity," Bawankule said..
