The battle commenced as the bell in the Belfry rang at 5:15 AM and the first shots rang out shortly after in front of thousands of onlookers.

It was a special week for the Birthplace of American Liberty. It started with a screening of clips of Ken Burns’ unreleased documentary and will conclude with a Naturalization Ceremony, but arguably the most-anticipated event of the Lex250 week was held Saturday morning on the Lexington Battle Green: The Reenactment of the Battle of Lexington. Crews worked through the night to get the “stage” set for the battle which commenced as the bell in the Belfry rang and the first shots were fired at 5:30 a.

m. 250 years to the day, a group of passionate and committed reenactors stood upon the Battle Green, between Massachusetts Ave., Bedford Street and Harrington Rd.
