when K-9 unit alerted agents about the presence of concealed people or drugs inside a Toyota red pickup truck, U.S. Border and Customs Protection said in a news release Thursday.

A secondary inspection was conducted, revealing anomalies in the spare tire area, underneath the vehicle, according to border officials. That's where agents removed a total of 48 packages of methamphetamine, weighing 51 pounds, with an estimated street value of $175,000.El Cajon police investigating fatal shooting nearby high schoolThe driver was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale.

“Our Border Patrol agents use every tool at their disposal to keep these dangerous narcotics from reaching our streets,” said Jeffrey D. Stalnaker, Acting Chief Patrol Agent of the San Diego Sector. “This sector is one of the nation’s busiest corridors for drug traffickers, and every action we take is focused on protecting America.
