San Diego Padres infielder/designated hitter Luis Arraez was placed on the seven-day injured list in concussion protocol Monday, one day after a collision at first base with the Houston Astros' Mauricio Dubon. The Padres promoted infielder Mason McCoy, 30, to the active roster in a corresponding move. After an 11-minute delay in Sunday's game at Houston, Arraez was carted off the field and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, with the team announcing during the game that he was "currently stable, conscious, responsive and able to move his extremities.

" Arraez, 28, returned to the ballpark and rejoined the team after the game but did not speak with reporters on the advice of team medical staff. Exams at the hospital ruled out a broken jaw, although Arraez has a small laceration. He will remain in concussion protocol while on the IL.



Arraez is batting .287 with three homers and seven RBIs this season. McCoy played in 19 games for the Padres last season, going 10-for-49 (.
