On March 20, 2000, just days before US President Bill Clinton’s visit to India, unidentified gunmen dressed in Indian Army uniforms stormed the Sikh village of Chittisinghpura in Anantnag district. They rounded up 36 Sikh men, including teens and elderly villagers, and shot them dead in cold blood outside two gurdwaras.
