Malacañang maintained that there is no politics involved in the implementation of the P20 per kilo of rice in Visayas. ''Walang puli-pulitika dito,'' Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said in a press briefing.
(No politics.) Last week, Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. announced the implementation of the sale of P20 per kilo of rice , which will be piloted in Visayas.
Tiu Laurel said President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. wants this program to be implemented across the country in the long run. Tiu Laurel said the purchase of P20 per kilo of rice is capped at 10 kilograms per week or 40 kilos in a month.
Marcos had since been hopeful as regards his campaign promise to reduce the price of rice to as low as P20 per kilo. He had said the aspiration hinges on fixing the value chain, or the series of stages involved in producing a product or service that is sold to consumers, with each state adding to the value of the product or services. —KG, GMA Integrated News.
