KUALA LUMPUR: The father of a Datin Seri who was last seen on April 9 said he is at a loss over her disappearance, as there had been no indication that she was in any kind of trouble. Datin Seri Pamela Ling is now at the centre of an abduction probe.Ling Kie Yii said his daughter had always kept in touch and never failed to update the family on her whereabouts.
He declined to comment on the specifics of Pamela's dealings with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The commission previously stated that she had been called in to assist in a money laundering investigation.Reports have also surfaced that Pamela and her Sarawak-based businessman husband are in the midst of a contentious divorce and are also under MACC scrutiny.
"She had informed her children in Singapore on the day of her disappearance about her going to the MACC headquarters," Kie Yii told the New Straits Times.He said Pamela was staying alone in Malaysia and used e-hailing services to get around. Kie Yii added that neither Pamela nor the family had received any threats.
On Saturday, city police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said there had been no new leads or developments in the case. He also confirmed that no ransom demand had been received.© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
