The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission is expected to turn over the two former Indonesian Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) workers for deportation on Monday, April 21, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI). “Informally, nakakuha na tayo ng information about that but formally siguro, pag dating bukas, doon tayo makakakuha ng official turn over for the deportation of these individuals,” BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval told Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday. (We have received information about that informally.

Formally, we will likely have the official turnover for deportation of these individuals.) “Close naman yung coordination natin (we have been in close coordination) with PAOCC. They have been a good partner of the Bureau of Immigration in terms of locating, arresting, and deporting these illegal aliens,” she added.

Earlier this week, two Indonesian men sought refuge and assistance from PAOCC, saying they wish to return to their country but are unable to shoulder their travel expenses. PAOCC said it will endorse their cases to the BI and the Department of Justice - Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking and contact the Indonesian Embassy. In March, seven Indonesians surrendered to PAOCC and sought the same kind of assistance.

According to Sandoval, about 700 to 800 foreign POGO workers have been deported in the past few months. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News.
