Patrick Chinazeakpere Dorgu is adapting to the Premier League following his January transfer to Manchester United. There were no wing-backs at Manchester United when Ruben Amorim became head coach following a successful stint at Sporting CP.Ineos addressed this in the January transfer window because it quickly became clear that Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system relied heavily on wing-backs to get up and down the pitch.
The Red Devils already had problems at left-back due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia being out injured, which meant Diogo Dalot had to play on his least favoured flank.Patrick Dorgu fixed that when he joined United from Serie A outfit Leece in a transfer worth £25 million. The 20-year-old is now facing healthy competition from United academy graduate Harry Amass, which bodes well for the future.

Dorgu has made 12 appearances for United since his mid-season transfer, but in an interview with club media, he explains how the adaptation period is going. The Denmark international pledged to continue developing and made two observations about the Premier League.“It’s a very fast league,” Dorgu told United Review via ManUtd.
com. “It’s a very physical league so I think, yeah, this is my game.“I just need to get many more games in the Premier League to get used to the tempo.
“I think I can get there [becoming a modern wing-back] but I still have a lot of things to improve in my game. But, definitely, I can be and I can get there.“I think it’s a very attack-minded position.
I think I just need to improve my decision-making, to think fast on the pitch and to connect better with my team-mates.“I really like to get forward and help the team score goals and I just need to, like I said, improve on my decision-making. But it will come.
”United travel to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday when Dorgu is likely to make his 13th appearance for the club.Dorgu enjoys the pressure at Manchester UnitedAlthough Dorgu has only been at United for a few months, the young wing-back has already noticed that there is a big difference in terms of pressure from his time playing at Lecce.Dorgu made the step up and earned a career-changing move to United and after arriving for a significant transfer fee, he is dealing with different pressures than before.
“I think the pressure is big at every club,” Dorgu added. “But especially United. I think the pressure is high because the expectation is so high.
“But being calm on the pitch helps every player to improve and develop.“Obviously, you know when you come in during a season like this, there was the pressure, with the expectation of the fans for the new players. It will be higher, for us to help the team as much as possible.
I knew that from the start.”🇪🇺🎯 | BIG-5 LEAGUE U21 FULL-BACKS WITH MOST ACCURATE CROSSES P/90 ~ @DataMB_ 4. Patrick Dorgu (20) 🇩🇰 — 0.

“I’m really excited [about the long-term future]. I hope I can develop as much as I can here and help the team in the future and now.”.
