MANILA – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is likely to cancel the 2025 All-Star Weekend due to unresolved venue issues. Originally set for May 2-4 in the cities of Davao and Panabo, the event had to be transferred to another province due to security concerns following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is from Davao. Attempts to reschedule it to May 16-18 in another province fell through, as the prospective host is unavailable during said dates.
Commissioner Willie Marcial stated on Wednesday night, April 23, 2025, that postponing beyond May is unfeasible due to the league’s schedule, making this potentially the first All-Star cancellation since the pandemic hiatus from 2020 to 2022. / PNA.
