Peddie sophomore Eason Wang won his first high school tournament with a score of shot 2 over 74 to win by one shot over Hill (PA) sophomore Quin Zuegner (3 over 75) to claim individual medalist honors Wednesday at the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) Tournament at Bedens Brook Golf Club in Skillman. Wang’s lone birdie of the day came on the par 4, 305-yard fifth hole (his 8th hole). “This is the first year that the MAPL has used a straight stroke play format with both an individual and team winner, so Eason is officially our first-ever individual MAPL champion under this structure.

It’s also his first individual tournament win for Peddie, which makes the accomplishment even more meaningful,” said Peddie head coach Benjamin Bickford. 4/30 - 11:00 AM Boys Golf Final Lawrenceville 394 Blair 392 “He has worked incredibly hard on his game, and it really showed today. Despite not feeling 100% over the past couple of days due to allergies, he stayed focused and put together a steady, composed round.

His win is a big deal for him personally, and it reflects well on the program - it’s exciting for our younger players to see that kind of success is possible with commitment and resilience. Bedens Brook is an amazing golf course, and the entire staff there - as well as the host school, Pennington - did a fantastic job running the tournament. Conditions were tough, and Eason’s score is a real testament to how sharp his game is right now.

More broadly, the strong overall play across the board shows how deep the league is - there are a lot of talented golfers in the MAPL.” Five golfers tied for third with 4 over 76s: Blair junior James Castle , Hun junior Peter Merk , Blair freshman Colin McAskin , Pennington junior James Bradley and Lawrenceville freshman Hayden Chung. Blair (392) edged rival Lawrenceville (394) to win the team title by two strokes and claim their sixth overall title in the last 10 years (2016, ‘17, ‘18, ‘19, ‘22).

The Big Red finished runner-up for the second straight season, losing to Hun in 2024. Four teams were within 10 strokes of the lead including Hill (PA) (400), Peddie (402), and Pennington (410), all who rounded out the top five respectively. “Our top six has only one senior (Alex Lyu, who will be playing at Swarthmore next year).

Two juniors, one sophomore, and two freshmen round our top six. Castle and McAskin both shot 76 today, but junior Dash Neville and sophomore Daniel Kim were our last two on the course, and both parred their last hole after struggling a bit to seal the win. So just a great team win, as they all are,” said Blair head coach Andrew Sykes.

Seven schools (42 golfers) competed on the par 72, 6,229-yard Somerset County layout. The N.J.
