Afrobeats star Peter Okoye, known by his stage name Mr P, has stirred reactions online after revealing that fans played a major role in the split of the iconic music duo, Psquare. As reported by AFRIPOST, Peter spoke at a recent event hosted by comedian AY, where he pointed fingers at the fanbase for fueling rivalry between him and his twin brother, Paul (Rudeboy). He explained that constant comparisons and favoritism created unnecessary conflict, which eventually led to a fallout.
“Fans are the reason Psquare is no longer together. Two brothers doing the same thing, and you keep saying one is better than the other. It got to someone’s head and caused problems,” Peter said in a mix of English and Pidgin.
“I don’t care anymore what anyone says.” Psquare, formed in 1997, gained massive popularity with chart-topping songs such as “Bizzy Body,” “Personally,” and “E No Easy.” The duo was also well known for their synchronized dance routines and high-energy performances.
Their split, reportedly influenced by personal and family disagreements, has remained a hot topic in the Nigerian entertainment scene. Recently, Peter was in the spotlight again for allegedly testifying against their elder brother, Jude Okoye, in a case involving a reported ₦1.38 billion fraud.
