OXFORD — Former Ole Miss football star AJ Brown will be the commencement speaker at the University of Mississippi graduation ceremony.The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver will deliver his speech on May 10 in the Grove at 9 a.m.
Brown is a Starkville native who is Ole Miss' all-time receiving leader with 2,984 yards. He broke the single-season record for receptions with 85 in 2018. The Tennessee Titans selected Brown in the 2019 NFL Draft.
He was traded to the Eagles in 2022. Brown helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl last season. Brown caught three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.
It was his second Super Bowl with the Eagles for Brown, who has been selected to the Pro Bowl three times."It is an honor to welcome AJ Brown back to campus as our 2025 commencement speaker," chancellor Glenn Boyce said in a school release. "He is the epitome of excellence, determination and service — all characteristics that our graduates will need as they embark on the next steps in their own journeys.
"The release said Brown will share a message of faith, authenticity and perseverance."I remember being here at Ole Miss wondering what my future would look like, dreaming big but not really knowing what was ahead," Brown said in the release."To stand up there now, with experience, with some success under my belt and with the same hunger I had back then, it's a blessing.
"It means they see something in me worth sharing, something the next class can take with them.
