Santa Cruz High students Maxine Burns and Cala Bretholtz work in Iver Hennig’s ceramics classroom at the school creating artwork that will be exhibited and available for purchase on Saturday at Santa Cruz Art Faire. The event, hosted at the Santa Cruz/San Lorenzo Masonic Lodge No. 38 hall in collaboration with Phoenix Ceramic Supply, will feature 15 booths showcasing local student artists and emerging artists in our community.
Accomplished ceramicist Sam Imsland, who helped organize the event with his brother Jacob said, “There will be many different communities coming out to support this event, which will be a great opportunity for the students to interact with customers. We hope this event leaves artists with the tools and experience to be self-sufficient and to embrace individual responsibility.” A mason himself, he continued, “Masonry is about supporting positive endeavors that strengthen the foundation of communities.
In masonry, we look to the physical world and recognize beauty and truth. Symmetry and form are both characteristics that masonry and pottery share, so to unite these crafts is a harmonious collaboration.” The sale takes place Saturday at 828 N.
