Spring will really spring the first week of May in Benton County.

Plant lovers, rejoice — two garden-themed events will take place in Benton County the first weekend of May. The Benton County Master Gardener Plant Sale and Clinic will take place from 9 a.m.

to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at the Benton County Fairgrounds.

Admission is free. Nearly 10,000 plants, including perennials, edibles, natives, trees and shrubs, will be available, cultivated by Master Gardeners who will be on hand for gardening advice, according to a press release. Proceeds from the sale will support gardening education projects.

According to a spokesperson for the event, master gardeners offer many free education events and clinics throughout the year, with this plant sale being the major fundraiser. More information is available at www.bentonmg.

org/plant-sale . The following day, the annual Corvallis Spring Garden Festival will take place from 10 a.m.

to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at The Arts Center Plaza and Madison Avenue in Corvallis.

The event is free, family-oriented and open to the public. The festival will feature vendors with a wide variety of wares — perennials, specialty plants, garden art, ceramics, seeds, wearable art, succulents, herbs and more, according to a press release. Sweet and savory goodies, including gluten-free options, will be available for purchase from two local bakeries, Wild Yeast and Whole Flower Farms.

Frozen treats will also be available from local vendor Go Giddy Pops. The event will also feature live performances by local musicians and activities for the whole family to enjoy. This year’s festival sponsors are the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition, the Corvallis Parks & Recreation Department, the Corvallis-Albany Farmers’ Market and The Arts Center.
