Award-nominated play The Beauty of Being Herd, about a woman choosing to live as a sheep, comes to Brighton Fringe 2025 with laughs, songs, and sheep facts.

A play about a woman living life as a sheep is coming to Brighton Fringe. The "original smash-hit" show, The Beauty of Being Herd will embark on its first nationwide tour from May to July 2025. The play is the creation of Gaulier graduate, Ruth Berkoff, and follows the story of Hannah at her big goodbye party.

Accompanied by original songs and facts about sheep, the show explores Hannah's struggle to fit in. She realises that human life is not working for her, and decides to live as a sheep. The Beauty of Being Herd was the runner-up for the 'Best Newcomer' and 'Best New Writing' awards at Manchester Fringe, and has sold out at Camden People's Theatre and the Glasgow Comedy Festival.

It has been praised as "bizarre, bonkers and beautiful" by FairyPowered Productions. Ms Berkoff said: "The Beauty of Being Herd shines a light on social anxiety, isolation, mental health, neurodiversity and consent, but in an unexpectedly fun and irreverent way. "I love sharing sheep facts, frolicking with the audience, and discussing loneliness, all with knickers on my head.

" The play has received rave reviews, with West End Best Friend saying: "We frolick like lambs, bleat like sheep, and dance at a rave," and Theatre and Tonic describing it as "heartfelt and honest." Brighton Fringe will see the "playful, tender rollercoaster of a show" next month. It is expected to resonate with many due to its exploration of the struggle to fit in.
