ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has capped annual tuition fees for MBBS and BDS programmes at Rs1.8 million, aiming to enhance affordability in medical education. The new fee limit, effective from the 2025 session, follows recommendations by the Prime Minister’s Committee on Medical Education Reforms.
A 5 per cent annual increase will be allowed for 2025, while subsequent adjustments will be tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). According to PMDC, institutions that previously charged more than the new cap must refund the excess or adjust it in future sessions. Private colleges seeking to charge up to Rs2.
5 million will now be required to submit financial justifications for approval. Criteria for evaluation will be issued separately. The council warned all private medical and dental colleges to strictly adhere to the revised fee structure.
