Police declare man wanted over alleged homosexual incident

The Abia State Police Command has declared one Jackson Chibuzor wanted over alleged involvement in homosexual activity, a criminal offence punishable under Nigerian law.According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Barth Okon, Jackson Chibuzor was implicated in an incident that occurred on July 7, 2020, in the Ubakala community, near Umuahia. He reportedly fled the scene, narrowly escaping the grasp of an angry mob, while his alleged partner, Uwakue Chidi, was apprehended and assaulted by local youths.

ASP Okon revealed that the two men were discovered naked in bed when community members stormed the scene after being alerted. Jackson Chibuzor reportedly sustained injuries during his escape, while Uwakue Chidi suffered more severe injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Umuahia.The police spokesperson reiterated that homosexuality as a criminal offence under Nigerian law, is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.



He stressed that both individuals would be made to face the full weight of the law, with charges to be formally pressed once Chidi recovers.ASP Okon urged members of the public with information on Jackson’s Chibuzor whereabouts to report to the nearest police station. He assured that the Command is committed to apprehending Jackson Chibuzor and pursuing the case to its legal conclusion.
