British Transport Police have confirmed a person tragically died on the railway this morning. Reports came in at 9.10am this morning (April 29) of a fatality on the tracks at Adlington railway station.
Services from Bolton towards Barrow and Blackpool, via Preston, and the opposite direction towards Manchester Airport are expected to be delayed until 1.15pm. 10am this morning (Tuesday) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. "Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. "The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the corner.
" A Northern spokesperson added: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Blackrod and Chorley all lines are blocked. "Train services running through these stations will be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 1.
15pm.".
