The Katsina State Police Command has arrested two suspected car thieves and recovered a stolen vehicle after officers rejected a N1 million bribe offered by the suspects. According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the incident occurred on April 11, 2025, around 3:00 p.m.
Officers from the Border Patrol Team Zone 4, Katsina, stopped a green Toyota Corolla LE during a routine patrol near Birnin Kuka village in Mashi Local Government Area. The vehicle was being driven by 26-year-old Mubarak Kabir and 27-year-old Adamu Hashim, both residents of Kurna quarters in Fagge LGA, Kano State. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In an attempt to avoid arrest, the suspects allegedly offered the officers N1 million in cash, which was rejected. Items recovered from the suspects include the suspected stolen vehicle, N1 million in cash, three mobile phones, a power bank, and a bunch of keys. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to determine the full extent of their criminal activities.
