Neighbourhood Essex Police officers have uncovered a significant amount of cannabis in Witham. Police attended a suspicious incident reported to them in Perry Road early yesterday, Wednesday April 23. They arrived and intercepted a container which, when opened, we discovered contained a large amount of cannabis.
A man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug and later released on conditional bail whilst the investigation continues. Although it is only the early stages of the investigation, police believe they have seized more than 300kg of cannabis, which an estimated value of up to £1m. Inspector Phil Jackson, of the Braintree and Uttlesford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Our officers have again seized a significant quantity of suspected controlled drugs that now cannot be used to fund organised crime and blight our neighbourhoods.

Cannabis remains a controlled Class B drug and our officers will continue to work to reduce possession and use of controlled drugs and associated crimes across our area.
