A popular chicken shop chain is coming to a city in Sussex. Slim Chickens is set to replace the former Carluccio's restaurant in Eastgate Square, Chichester. The branch is due to open on May 22, according to Slim Chickens' website.
The Carluccio's restaurant closed on January 12. The dining chain fell into administration in 2020. READ MORE: Why I think Slim Chickens is the best fried chicken chain In May 2020, the brand and 30 of its restaurants was saved in a rescue deal by Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG), which recently acquired Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK), although it still resulted in 1,019 job losses at Carluccio’s.
Chichester's branch was one of the stores which was saved in the deal, however after nearly five years, the chain made the decision to close and sell the premises. Slim Chickens was founded in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003, specialising in chicken tenders, fresh Buffalo wings and handmade dipping sauces. It opened its first UK store in 2018.
