POTTSVILLE — A new ceramic arts studio will open soon in downtown Pottsville.Flux and Ferro, 108 N. Centre St.

0 competition on March 27, hosted by the Pottsville Area Development Corp. The studio ultimately received $25,000 in startup funding.Althouse said she plans to open the studio by year’s end.

“People are looking for new skills, ways to connect with others. And that’s why I’m launching Flux and Ferro — a ceramics studio that makes pottery accessible to everyone.”Flux and Ferro will offer structured ceramics classes for both beginners and advanced students.
There will also be workshops for wheel throwing, glazing techniques and sculpture, as well as open studio memberships for artists.Retail items to be sold include mugs, cup sets, incense holders, sculptures, coasters, planters and pottery starter kits.There will also be community events such as mural-making, study nights, artist talks and workshops, and open studio nights, Althouse said.
Flux and Ferro will be open from Wednesday to Sunday. Althouse said she will begin leasing the 1,500-square-foot space at 108 N. Centre St.
in July, with construction to begin shortly afterward..
