Prayagraj dist to get 900 new anganwadi centres

Prayagraj: The state govt has sanctioned the opening of 900 new Anganwadi centres across the district. The Prayagraj district currently has a total of 800 Anganwadi centres, and its strength will cross 1,700, the highest number of Anganwadi centres across the state, once sets in. New Anganwadi centres are to be built in the villages with the joint efforts of the department of child development and nutrition and the panchayati raj department.

A senior district administrative official said, "The state govt is making continuous efforts to eliminate malnutrition in the state, empower women and child development, and expand basic facilities at the rural level." With the sanctioning of 900 new Anganwadi centres, a meeting of Block Development Officers (BDOs) was held, and proposals were sought from them for the selection of the location to set up these centres. Officials claimed that quality and safety are being given top priority in the construction of Anganwadi centres.



It is being ensured that no Anganwadi centre is built on the side of the National Highway, so that the safety of children is ensured. Apart from this, all the standards of quality will also be ensured in the construction of centres. The construction will promote the nutrition and education of children in rural areas as well as increase employment opportunities at the local level.
