The Englishman stated that he would leave the club, which he helped to the PL title in a historic 2015-16 campaign, after 13 long years of association with the Foxes. Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy announced that he would depart the club at the end of the ongoing season, bringing the curtains down on a 13-year tenure with the Foxes that saw the Englishman clinch the coveted Premier League title in the year 2015/16. The 38-year-old has struck 181 times for the Foxes in over 400 appearances for the club and managed to claim the FA Cup, and the Championship titles once each in addition to the PL crown during his time at Leicester.

Vardy’s heroics in the 2015-16 title-winning season earned him the Premier League player of the year award, before he added the golden boot to his collection of individual accolades in the 2019-2020 season for emerging as the season’s top goal scorer. “I feel gutted this day is coming, but I knew it would come eventually. I have had 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, and some downs, but the majority all highs," Vardy said in a touching farewell video.

“Leicester will always have a place in my heart," the 38-year-old said. Vardy’s rise from non-league football to the pinnacle of the English top flight is well documented, and the striker will go down as the greatest player in the history of the club without a debate. Leicester chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha lauded the Englishman’s talents and his services for the club following Vardy’s decision to look for pastures anew.

“Jamie is unique. He is a special player and an even more special person. He holds a place in the hearts of everyone connected to Leicester City, and he certainly has my deepest respect and affection.

I am endlessly grateful for everything he has given to this Football Club," Srivaddhanaprabha said. “Although Jamie’s time with us as a player is ending, he and his family will always be welcomed back to King Power Stadium with open arms after all he has achieved. On behalf of everyone at Leicester City, I wish Jamie and his family the very best for the future and I know our supporters will join us in giving him the send-off he deserves at the end of this season," the chairman added in his tribute to the iconic striker.
