LAHORE - The Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) has appointed renowned South African coach van Deventer Ludwich as the new Director of Pakistan Rugby. The appointment has been made possible through the generous support of Total Parco, a key partner in the PRU’s development initiatives. According to PRU Secretary Salman Muzaffar Sheikh, van Deventer Ludwich will serve in this pivotal role for a period of one year, during which he will oversee the development of both domestic and international rugby talent in Pakistan.
Boasting over 22 years of coaching experience, van Deventer has a strong pedigree in the sport. He has previously served as a coach at South Africa’s prestigious Blue Bulls Club, one of the most respected rugby institutions in the world. His connection with Pakistan rugby is not new—he worked with the national team last year as head coach, making his return all the more promising.
PRU President Rizwan Malik expressed great enthusiasm about the appointment. “This is a transformative step for Pakistan rugby. The arrival of a coach of van Deventer’s caliber will bring structure, vision, and professionalism to our system.
We have untapped talent across the country, and under his guidance, that talent will finally have the chance to shine.” Tokyo’s newest art star: one-year-old Thumbelina President Malik also extended his heartfelt appreciation to Total Parco, stating that their continued support was instrumental in making this landmark appointment a reality. The PRU hopes that van Deventer’s presence will not only elevate the performance of the national team but also lay the foundation for long-term rugby development programs at the grassroots level.
