1 2 Pune: Public universities in Maharashtra have cautioned that they will hold back the results of students who fail to create their identity code for the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) and the 12-digit Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) number as mandated by National Education Policy 2020 . The rule is also applicable for long-distance and online courses run by Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) which has urged postgraduate students to create an ABC unique ID. The university has clarified that the results of the summer session exams will not be announced for students who fail to create such an ID.
The university's examination controller Bhatuprasad Patil said in line with National Education Policy 2020, students admitted to the first year in the academic year 2023-24 and the second year in 2024-25 at the open university are required to create an ABC/unique ID. He added, "The university has stated that the results of the May 2025 exams will not be declared for students who have not created this ID. Therefore, the university's examination department has urged such students to register for the ABC/unique ID immediately.
" Savitribai Phule Pune University vice-chancellor Suresh Gosavi has also issued instructions regarding registrations for both schemes available for students. Gosavi said, "Without these identification numbers, it will be difficult to keep student records. From now on, it is mandatory, and students have to get their unique identification so that access to records and storage of credits become easier.
So even unwillingly, we will have to hold the results back if the IDs are not created." Credit Transfer Key To Study Mobility APAAR empowers students to accumulate and store their academic accomplishments, facilitating seamless transitions between institutions for the pursuit of further education The ID simplifies the processes of credit recognition and transfer right from the school level, thereby streamlining academic progression and recognition of prior learning ABC stores the academic records of students. Credits awarded to a student for one programme from an institution may be transferred or redeemed by another institution upon the student's consent.
