Doha: In a demonstration of increasing confidence in Qatari expertise, the recent establishment of the Arab Basketball Federation committees showcased a significant Qatari representation during the inaugural meeting of the newly constituted Board of Directors of the Arab Federation. This meeting took place at the Olfat Hotel in Dubai, UAE, under the leadership of Major General Ismail Al Gergawi, who serves as the President of both the Arab and UAE Federations.
To address future challenges and enhance administrative and technical operations, the Arab Federation has decided to create six specialized committees, with members selected from various Arab nations to promote collaborative efforts and advance the sport at the regional level.
The new committee structure includes the appointment of several Qatari professionals to prominent roles, specifically:
Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari – Chairman of the 3x3 Committee: As the Secretary-General of the Qatar Basketball Federation, he is recognized as a leading administrative figure in the sports sector. His appointment underscores Qatar's pivotal role in spearheading collaborative Arab basketball initiatives.
Abdullah Sultan Al Jaber – Member of the 3x3 Committee: As a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Basketball Federation, he possesses extensive experience in managing various tournaments.
Ahmed Yousef Al Darwish – Member of the Technical and Competitions Committee: He is a key figure in the organization of both local and international tournaments and currently holds a position on the Board of Directors of the Qatar Basketball Federation.
Abdulrahman Hamad Al Mana and Mr. Mishaal Abdullah Al Malki – Members of the Marketing Committee: Both serve on the Board of Directors of the Qatar Basketball Federation, playing a vital role in enhancing the marketing and promotional efforts for Qatari basketball.
Zahra Majed Al Zaidan – Member of the Women's Committee: She is a female representative on the Board of Directors of the Qatar Basketball Federation and actively contributes to the advancement of women's sports.
