An adorable tearoom is the latest addition to a quaint historic windmill not far from . Denver Mill, in Downham Market, is roughly half an hour away from Ely. Owner John Nash is restoring the iconic windmill and bringing life back into the space by inviting new businesses to join the community.

The windmill boasts relaxing outdoor seating in its courtyard space and plans to host fun events. He said: “The windmill is an iconic landmark and is well known in Norfolk. I bought it about seven years ago, and it’s an interesting story about how I did.

"I used to drive past the site and saw that it was run down, with bits falling off the mill. One day I said to my wife ‘I am sick of this’ and she said ‘do something about it then’.” John decided to take the project on and now a handful of businesses call it home.

The newest member of the community is Tilly’s Tearoom, which opens today (April 18). The tearoom, which has another location in Brandon, Suffolk, is known for its cakes and hot drinks. There is also a hairdresser's called The Hair Mill, The Blackstone Engine Bar owned by John and the recently opened Foot Health Practice.

Tatty’s Originals, which is a wedding dress shop, was opened by Tiffany Crosson-Rogers at the site in September 2024. Tiffany and John are planning to start community events at the inviting windmill. She said: “Me and John have spoken a lot about this since I came on board.

I am looking to do a lot of women-based business events, but also just want to open it up more to the community. I have always tried to connect with other businesses and am looking to start up some networking events. “It is a gorgeous place.

The grounds we have as well are really beautiful.” Scroll down to see all the elements that make up a perfect day out at Denver Mill..
