The intense courtroom drama based on a chapter of India’s history portrays him as the antagonist opposite Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday.

In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Madhavan said he hasn’t watched a more entertaining film than Kesari Chapter 2 in recent years. 'Kesari Chapter 2 is an entertaining film' Explaining his statement, the actor told us, “Kesari Chapter 2 is by far the most entertaining film and an important one in recent years. It is a big deal for the audience to be seated till the last frame.

Even when the names of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre martyrs appear on the screen, there are people waiting to read them. Otherwise, the audience is ready to run out of the theatre as soon as the director’s name flashes.” ALSO READ: R Madhavan: Didn't Know What's Depression, Now Children Are Taught Good-Bad Touch, Religion In School | EXCL 'Theatres are depressing with no fun films' Madhavan further observed the present scenario in the Hindi film industry and said, “I miss watching films like Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, 3 Idiots.

Earlier, we would have fun working on a movie set. The actors were free to experiment. There was a time we would go around having fun, leading a happy and stress-free life.

Now, everything has to be proper. Since actors are not enjoying themselves, it is reflected in the films that are being made. We’re not making fun, entertaining films.

It feels so depressing going to theatres.” Along the same lines, Madhavan felt movie lovers are missing the joy of watching entertaining films that were made earlier. Citing the example of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the actor said the Zoya Akhtar directorial is still remembered and cherished as one of the last fun movies made in that space.
