The Washington Noon Rotary recently donated $500 to the Reaching for the Stars After School. The program serves underprivileged, at-risk youth in Washington. The children, who range in age from 6-12, are often dealing with a wide range of issues, from failing grades to behavioral and emotional issues such as a lack of confidence and self-esteem.
“The donation is a really big deal for our kids,” said Flora Brooks, founder and director of Reaching for the Stars After School. “The money will be used to help fund some of our field trips and snacks for the kids. It will also assist those who may not be able to pay the fee to participate in the program.
We really appreciate the Noon Rotary for considering us for the donation.”On Tuesday, April 15, two students from the program, Colt and Faith Land, along with Brooks, presented Henry Capogna of the Noon Rotary with a certificate of appreciation.“The Washington Noon Rotary Club takes great pride in supporting after-school educational programs like Reaching For The Stars,” said Capogna.
“Flo Brooks’ passionate commitment to her students and their parents is truly extraordinary. The magic of Rotary impacts communities everywhere, particularly here in Beaufort County. We are delighted to serve!” The post Reaching for the Stars After School receives $500 donation from Noon Rotary appeared first on Washington Daily News.
