The Arizona Diamondbacks fell to the Chicago Cubs 6-2 in Saturday’s matchup, losing their second series of the 2025 season. Zac Gallen had another shaky outing as he went 6.0 innings, but gave up six earned runs on seven hits.

Seiya Suzuki and Michael Busch had back-to-back home runs off of Gallen that broke the game wide open in the bottom of the second inning. The D-Backs let Gallen maneuver his way through the game though. After the second inning debacle, he stood his ground and went the next four innings only giving up one hit.

Key players to keep an eye on: Corbin Carroll contunued his incredible hot streak as he had three hits on the day including hitting his seventh home run of the season. Carroll started it off strong for the D-Backs, although they were behind after his homer the most of the game. The only other hit of the game came from Tim Tawa who hit a home run in the top of the ninth inning off of Daniel Palencia.

New faces around town: Arizona turned to newcomers Juan Morillo and J.P. Feyereisen .

They each pitched one inning and between them only gave up one hit and no earned runs. After news coming down today of the Diamondbacks sending Joe Mantiply and Bryce Jarvis down to Triple-A Reno, the Snakes could use some new helping hands in their bullpen for the time being. After following a five game winning streak, the Diamondbacks find themselves dropping two games in Chicago after frustrating losses.

The D-Backs look to take care of business on Sunday, as they would like to at least win one game in this series. Can the Snakes avoid the sweep tomorrow? First pitch at Wrigley Field between the D-backs and Cubs is at 11:20 a.m.
