Dre Greenlaw was looking forward to a bounce-back season after he signed with the Denver Broncos, but the veteran linebacker is now dealing with another serious injury. Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports reported on Sunday that Greenlaw recently suffered a torn quadriceps muscle while working out. While Greenlaw's prognosis has not yet been revealed, players typically take several months to recover from a torn quadriceps if surgery is required.

Greenlaw is now in danger of missing a significant portion of the 2025 season, according to Chan. Greenlaw appeared in just two games with the San Francisco 49ers last season after he suffered a torn Achilles during the Super Bowl the year before. He returned in Week 14 last year and got through that game but experienced soreness in his Achilles the following game.

The 49ers decided to shut Greenlaw down for the season at that point. Despite the Achilles issues, Greenlaw signed a three-year, $31.5M deal with the Broncos in free agency.

There was a report that the 49ers offered Greenlaw more money but he wanted a fresh start. The 27-year-old Greenlaw spent the first six seasons of his career in San Francisco. He had 120-plus total tackles in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023.

Greenlaw will likely visit with specialists to determine whether surgery is needed, but his tenure in Denver is off to a brutal start.
