1 2 3 Pune: A 68-year-old retired assistant commissioner of police (ACP) was injured in an accident after his motorcycle handle got entangled in a dangling cable wire of an internet service provider at Hirabaug Chowk on Tilak Road , around 10am on Monday. Arvind Ramchandra Patil sustained injuries in his left leg, left hand shoulder, and received stitches on his fourth right-hand finger, or ring finger, and left waist. "I was returning to my home at Bibvewadi after meeting some morning joggers from Sarabaug.

I had crossed the Hirabaug traffic signal on Tilak Road when the right handle of my bike suddenly got entangled in a cable wire, causing me to lose my balance." The retired officer said, "When I tried to move ahead, the front wheel of the bike went upwards. I lost control of the two-wheeler, and it skidded and fell on me, causing bodily injuries.

The bike was also damaged in the incident. A passer-by, Mahesh Walse-Patil, came to my rescue, and retired police inspector Dattaray Temghare and my son, Dhariryasheel, took me to a private hospital on Pune-Satara Road. I was discharged after medical treatment.

The treating doctor told me that the nerves of my ring finger had been damaged in the accident because of which there is numbness." Swargate police's senior inspector Yuvraj Nandre, said, "A visit to the spot revealed that the cable wire belonged to an internet service provider. Fire brigade personnel bundled the wire carefully and placed it safely on the tree to prevent accidents on the busy road.

" Nandre said, "We have written a letter to the Tilak Road civic ward office of the Pune Municipal Corporation to share details of the persons responsible for leaving the wire loose. Patil has registered a complaint against the cable contractor, govt contractor, and its employees under the provisions of sections 125 (act endangering life and personal safety of others), 285 (causing danger), and 3 (5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita." Mahesh Valse-Patil, a transport businessman, told TOI, "I take Tilak Road daily to travel to Hadapsar.

I have seen the wire dangling from the tree for four days. ACP Patil, who was driving ahead of my car, met with an accident because the civic body failed to remove the wire. The tree branch broke because of the jerk after the wire got entangled in the bike.
