Rohit Shetty’s last directorial was Singham Again starring Ajay Devgn, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Tiger Shroff. Rohit Shetty has officially confirmed that Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba and Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi sequels are in the pipeline. Known for high-octane action and star power, the ace director revealed the news during a recent podcast.
He even confirmed that more films will be made under the cop universe soon. In conversation with Komal Nahta on his podcast Gamechangers, Rohit said, “Simmba ka bhi part 2 hoga, Sooryavanshi bhi aage badhegi. Aur bhi log aaenge.
Aur bhi filmein banengi cop universe mein. So, that’s why we created that universe (Simmba’s sequel will happen soon. We also plan to take Sooryavanshi forward.
More actors will be asked to join and more films will be made)," the Singham director said. In the same interview, Rohit revealed there were no plans to create a cop universe initially. He said that when he made Singham in 2011, he didn’t expect that the film will became such a huge brand.
The idea of connecting all the cop films, originated while he was scripting Simmba. After Simmba, Ranveer Singh starred in other films of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, like Sooryavanshi (2021) and Singham Again (2024). He also starred in Rohit’s 2022 comedy Cirkus.
Deepika made her debut as Lady Singham in Singham Again last year. Her first film with Rohit was the 2013 hit Chennai Express. The director considers Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Karan Johar among his closest allies in the business.
“There are 2-3 people (I can call up at 2 am). There’s Ajay sir, Ranveer Singh, Deepika. I’m very close to them.
When only the last schedule of our film (Singham Again) was pending, Deepika was four months pregnant. But she came for the shoot. Relations like these are rarely made," said Rohit during a chat on the YouTube channel Game Changers.
