Roles in politics should change, mine will when time comes: Fadnavis

Pune: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday batted for change in roles in politics . "The roles in politics should keep changing and they do change. Even my role will change when the time comes," he said, a day after cabinet minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said Fadnavis would remain the chief minister till 2034.

Highlighting his work, Bawankule emphasised on the need for long-term leadership for development and said Fadnavis would remain the chief minister till 2034. When Fadnavis was asked about Bawankule's statement, he said, "If he (Bawankule) wants, he can keep me in the post for 100 years also.



He wishes for my well-being and that is why he might have made that statement. But nothing is permanent in politics." Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde , with whom Fadnavis exchanged the post of chief minister after the assembly polls, did not comment on Bawankule's statement.

He just conveyed his "best wishes" to Fadnavis. Reacting to Bawankule's statement, Shinde-led Shiv Sena's senior member Ramdas Kadam said, "We will not have any complaint even if he (Fadnavis) remains the chief minister till 2080. Our wishes are with him as well as Bawankule.
