Dundee United captain Ross Docherty has revealed the team's reaction to their heavy defeat by Celtic at the weekend. The Terrors were thrashed 5-0 by Brendan Rodgers ' men as the Hoops clinched the league title. Despite the defeat, United remain in the hunt for third place and European football.
Docherty admitted the players were "disappointed" by the result but insisted they would not let it define their season. "We’ll be judged after the next four games, and we’ve got to pick ourselves up and be positive for the start of another big week.
" United are currently three points behind Hibernian and Aberdeen, who sit in third and fourth place, respectively. They face Hibs at Easter Road next week before ending the season with fixtures against St Mirren, Rangers , and Aberdeen. Docherty is confident the team can bounce back and finish the campaign strongly.
"Whenever we’ve had a bad result or a bad performance, we’ve generally responded," he said. "I think we can have a good four games now, and try to get something special for this football club." The skipper also highlighted the club's achievements so far this season.
"It’s already been a very good season. "I think we’ve got to remember that. "As a group, we’ve got to remember that it’s been a good first season back in the league.
