Excelsior Sports CorrespondentJAMMU, Apr 26: Jammu & Kashmir’s ace Gymnast Ruddrakash Khanna, a trainee of the J&K Sports Council’s Gymnastics Academy, has made the Union Territory proud by qualifying for the finals of the Aerobic Gymnastics World Cup 2025, currently underway in Tokyo, Japan. Displaying exceptional skill and composure, Ruddrakash secured 4th place in the qualification round and will now compete against top gymnasts from Japan, China, and Chinese Taipei in the finals.Ruddrakash trains at the prestigious Gymnastics Academy of the J&K Sports Council, an institution known for producing over 25 international players and winning more than 700 medals in national-level events including the Khelo India Games.
Another Gymnast from Jammu & Kashmir, Riya Sharma, also represented India at the World Cup, selected by the Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) along with five other Indian gymnasts. Out of the six, only Ruddrakash Khanna and Romesh Singh from Manipur progressed to the finals.Kiran Wattal, Vice President of the Gymnastics Federation of India, extended his best wishes to Ruddrakash, stating, “We are proud of his performance and wish him all the very best for tomorrow’s finals.
