Former NASCAR Cup Series star and 2008 Daytona 500 winner Ryan Newman will make his CARS Tour debut this weekend after being announced on the entry list for the Folsom Fence Supply 250 at Orange County Speedway. Newman will pilot the No. 7 for Matt Piercy Racing during Saturday's 125-lap Late Model Stock Car race.
The 18-time Cup Series race winner, who endured his fair share of scary crashes during his career , including two at Daytona , has continued racing since stepping away from a full-time schedule in NASCAR . Although it will be Newman's first CARS Tour appearance, the 47-year-old went to victory lane at Orange County in the SMART Modified Tour earlier this month. “I didn’t want to have to swallow my pride getting beat by an eighth grader there,” Newman joked about his victory.
“Paulie did an excellent job on the restart there, and I can’t thank these guys enough. Randy Renfrow and everyone over at Coulter Motorsports have worked hard, We started the season off, we made a lot of changes, a lot of tests, and everybody’s chipped in.” NASCAR fans get first look at electric car out on track in new footage Chase Elliott solution becoming clear as Hendrick Motorsports replacement primed “I put it on the beach! When Paulie slid the 77 there, I just cut it left, I didn’t know if anybody was there, it didnt really matter," he added on the second restart before taking the chequered flag.
"I was gonna try to make a run, and we got to the line before the caution, which was a game changer, then we got a good restart after that.” Paulie Hartwig III was a victim of Newman's red-hot restart. “It was just a tough race, falling all the way back to 11th, and I kind of burned it up there in the beginning of the race trying to stay humble, but Blake got me back calmed down," Hartwig said.

“I don’t want to ruin my reputation by pushing someone up the track and putting them into the wall, I don’t race like that. We could’ve been like that but I know I have a career ahead of me, we’re getting one of these smarties trophies this year.” Joining Newman in this weekend's race are full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competitors Layne Riggs and Kaden Honeycutt.
Saturday's venue is not too far from Riggs' house, who will be racing in front of his hometown fans. "The track is five minutes from my house," said Riggs. DON'T MISS.

It keeps me grounded and I think it's something everyone should do. R&S Race Cars has had some strong pieces at Orange County in the past and beaten me several times, so I'm excited to drive that equipment." Both Riggs and Honeycutt are currently in the top 10 in the Truck Series.
However, neither has managed to secure a race win yet..
