Saif Ali Khan is stepping into the shoes of a slick thief in Netflix’s upcoming action-packed heist thriller Jewel Thief, his first release after the infamous knife attack on him after a break-in at his residence in Mumbai. As the cast gears up for promotions, Jaideep Ahlawat, Kunal Kapoor, and Nikita Dutta recently sat down for a fun chat about their filming experience — and it quickly turned into a laughter fest thanks to Kunal’s cheeky sense of humour.
While Jaideep and Nikita recalled all the fun they had on set, Kunal jokingly claimed he had a very different experience. He said, “Loneliness because I am not with them in the film, I am chasing them so I was alone on the set. These people would enjoy together.
" Kunal took the opportunity to crack a few jokes when asked about working with Saif. He jokingly said, “He is a pain. It was difficult to work with him.
He didn’t turn up on time and when he did, he didn’t know his line and then we had to wait till he learned his lines. Then take after take." The rest of the cast joined in, joking that since Saif isn’t on social media, he wouldn’t see Kunal’s comments.
But they all agreed that if it made the newspapers, Saif would definitely find out. Directed by Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal and penned by Sumit Aroraa, Jewel Thief is a high-octane heist thriller spanning exotic locales—Budapest, Istanbul, and Mumbai. The film features Jaideep Ahlawat as Aulak, a powerful tycoon obsessed with acquiring Red Sun, Africa’s most precious diamond.
He hires a mysterious thief (Saif Ali Khan) to steal it. Kunal Kapoor plays the relentless cop determined to catch him, while Nikita’s character, married to the antagonist, adds an enigmatic layer with a hinted history with the thief. Jewel Thief is set to premiere on Netflix on April 25.
