They stated, “We have approximately 23 million registered users of SmartThings in India, and India ranks third globally. The top two countries are the US and Brazil.

With a global SmartThings app user base of around 390 million, the company is leveraging this momentum to meet rising demand for smart home solutions.

Previously limited to premium devices, Samsung’s AI features—enabled by its Tizen Lite platform—are now being integrated into mid-tier appliances without screens, allowing them to support functions like Bixby. This move aligns with Samsung’s strategy to offer India-exclusive product lineups tailored to local consumer needs. Samsung will add support for nine Indian languages—Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Telugu—to its Family Hub refrigerator next month.

Executives highlighted India’s unique role in Samsung’s global strategy, with dedicated software centres across all major divisions and a design centre in Delhi focused on localised feature development. Sungil Hahm, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Software R&D Group noted, "India is the only country where we have four kinds of software centres from each division - consumer electronics, mobile, and appliances. We also have a Samsung Design Centre in Delhi.
