As Samsung Australia was rolling out their new TV OLED and QLED TV’s Samsung Display was unveiling a brand new TV identity. The South Korean Company who are the largest manufacturer of TVs in the world has unveiled a new brand identity for its quantum dot organic light-emitting diode technology. They have also moved to trademark the identity in their battle with arch rival LG and Chinese brands Hisense and TCL.
Retailers across Australia will in the future feature a new Samsung brand identity that visualizes the letter “Q” from QD-OLED. The company, which debuted its QD-OLED business in late 2021, has been dominant in the QD-OLED sector for several years. From a few thousand sales in the first year to reaching over 1 million sales in 2024 alone, Samsung currently holds the most market share compared to its QD-OLED rivals.
The new design which incorporating a blue hue representing the blue OLED material and a gradient that symbolizes the technology’s expansive colour spectrum. First introduced in late 2021, QD-OLED technology has been recognized for delivering superior picture quality compared to conventional OLED monitors. It has since been adopted in over 170 TV and monitor models from 18 global brands, including Samsung Electronics, Sony, Dell, MSI, Asus and HP.
Samsung claims that they now offer the widest colour gamut among commercially available displays, with their QD-OLED panels praised for their ability to reproduce colours with exceptional accuracy, closely matching the creators’ original intent. “QD-OLED combines the superior black expression capabilities of traditional OLED with the optical characteristics of quantum dots, enabling richer colour expression and distortion-free image quality from any angle,” a Samsung Display official said. “By expressing QD-OLED’s outstanding image quality through the brand identity, we aim to communicate the distinct technological value of QD-OLED to our clients and consumers,” the official added.
The company plans to collaborate with global partners to showcase the new brand identity at domestic and international exhibitions, and to apply it to the packaging of finished products, ramping up efforts to strengthen its technology branding..
