A new tri-fold smartphone by Samsung has been in the rumours for a while now and it seems that it will soon become a reality too. Recent reports reveal that Samsung can launch its first tri-fold smartphone this year itself. A report by The Bell reveals that the South Korean tech giant is most likely eyeing Q4 2025 for the launch of its first triple-folding device.
As per rumours, the device can be called the Galaxy G Fold. The launch is expected to coincide with the debut of the Galaxy Z Fold FE, a more affordable foldable designed to take on Motorola’s Razr series. Previously, word on the street was that the tri-fold by Samsung will arrive by 2026.
However, this new report suggests the tri-fold phone might arrive earlier than expected. Samsung has been working on this form factor for years, and although no official design details have been confirmed, the company did showcase a tri-fold prototype at MWC 2025. Those were early concepts, but they hinted at a future with even more versatile foldable form factors.
But that’s all we know about the device so far, nothing on the specifications or features. But after having a look at Huawei’s tri-fold, we can expect it to combine the benefits of a tablet and a smartphone, offering multitasking capabilities on a much larger display that folds down to a pocketable size. Additionally, Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy Z Flip FE, a budget version of its clamshell foldable, later this year.
While it was initially expected alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7, reports indicate a delay due to chipset issues. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are progressing on schedule for a summer 2025 launch. Production of their displays has already begun, with full manufacturing starting in May.
