San Sebastian College-Recoletos survived a late scare from Arellano University, 25-21, 18-25, 25-17, 25-23, to open its campaign in the second round of the NCAA Season 100 women's volleyball tournament.

Arellano was leading 20-15 in the fourth set but San Sebastian made four straight, thanks to the efforts of KJ Dionisio, Tina Marasigan, and Juna Gonzales. The Lady Chiefs the broke the scoring drought with back-to-back points to claim a 22-19 lead, but Marasigan then blocked to let San Sebastian inch closer.

Fhaye Mangubat denied Juna Gonzales as Arellano claimed a 23-20 lead before the Lady Stags made a 5-0 run to claim the win. "Ang hirap, lamang kami, all of a sudden Arellano is leading. Buti nung bandang huli, 23-20 'yun eh, nagsikap naman 'yung mga bata.



Sila ang nagpanalo sa laro," San Sebastian head coach Roger Gorayeb said. Gonzales had 22 points anchored on 20 attacks, while Santos and Marasigan had 17 points apiece as the Lady Stags improved to 6-4. Marianne Padillon had 20 points, while De Guzman had 13 points as Arellano slipped to a similar 6-4 record.
